38th Annual Western Montana Hill Climb

The Western Montana Hill Climb took place this past weekend during a gorgeous Sunday morning. A four mile climb that gains a little over 800 feet as it works it way up Pattee Canyon, this ride is common with locals due to its close proximity to downtown. The race has a unique history and it is great fun to be able to be a part of the tradition.

Alone at Sea

One of my favorite photos from our recent San Juan Islands bicycle tour. Overcast with mixed sun created interesting light and the mountains in the distance created depth. Shot with a 5D Mark III and the  EF 28-135mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS lens. I also used a Hoya PL-CR 72mm  circular polarizing filter. Click through to see the image.

Fall Riding

The mountain biking season is quickly coming to an end. At least for me, others may ride later into the season, but I know I will probably one get a handful of rides in before it becomes cold and snowy. The days become too short to fit in rides after work and other obligations end up taking almost all of my weekend time. I was glad to get a ride in today under almost perfect conditions.

AWS support interaction surprise!

I'll admit it. I made a mistake. I went to purchase a reserved instance from Amazon Web Services and accidentally added a quantity of 2 instead of 1. As I clicked the button to confirm the purchase, I realized my mistake a moment too late. I just agreed to an upfront fee as well as a monthly fee for the next year for a web instance that I did not need.
