38th Annual Western Montana Hill Climb

The Western Montana Hill Climb took place this past weekend during a gorgeous Sunday morning. A four mile climb that gains a little over 800 feet as it works it way up Pattee Canyon, this ride is common with locals due to its close proximity to downtown. The race has a unique history and it is great fun to be able to be a part of the tradition.

I was especially excited to have my wife Kim join me this year for her first time to participate in the event. She did great and I was super excited that she was interested in riding this year. I think she enjoyed the climb and pushed herself, but I'm positive she had a good time on the way back down.

I was excited to knock 1:42 off of my previous best time. I'm still far from competitive, but improvement from year to year is the most rewarding part. I had next to no improvement from 2012 to 2013, so this was another sign that all of the running I have been doing this year is paying off. I'm already looking forward to the first Sunday of next October and a chance to improve my time.
